The sci fi scene here is a mixture of techniques using Illustrator and photoshop. the first thing that I did was create the space ship using shapes and the pen tool in Illustrator. I made sure it was just the out line so I can create a vector image easy to use as a template in photoshop. once imported into photoshop I recreated the ship starting with the outer circle. I made it a gold colour and added a texture using the filter gallery and then added a inner glow layer style just to give a shine in certain parts. I repeated the process but with grey for the silver circle and added a gradient over lay also. The green circle I created and used a lighter colour blending mode. I drew the triangle lines on and then used liquify to make it look more like a beam thing rather than metal. The inner circle I made a gradient overlay pink, added a bevel, a blue stroke and inner and outer glows. To give it a bit more depth I then added a plastic wrap filter on top. The two glass triangle I made by making a blue shape first. I then duplicated the layer and changed the blend mode. I added a texture of cross lines using the filter gallery. I then duplicated the layer and made it darker using multiply putting the layer underneath and enlarging it slightly to give them a 3d look. I created the sand landscape using illustrator and then adding texture in photoshop by overlapping sand and rock images blending them with soft light, hard light and overlay. The sky I used the same method as other space pictures I have created. ( didn't want to repeat myself too much :/) the planet I created using an orange eclipse with an outer glow layer style. I added the texture using the brush tool on the same layer for the space to give the speckled look. To create the light streaks I painted a white line onto a separate layer and used motion blur to create the streak effect and placed it into position. The building were parts of buildings from photographs I took in boston USA. I changed the hue and saturation on them and placed into position. the smaller buildings I added a moss image and blended it using overlay. I put a subtle plastic wrap filter on them. The big buildings I added the plastic wrap filter but really brought up the highlights and detail to give the plastic out of this world look. to finish the image off I added shadows and used the stamp tool to add the sand on the bottom of the buildings to make them look like they are in the sand.
